The Federation of Malaysia comprises Peninsular Malaysia, with Sabah and Sarawak in Borneo.
Geographical Location
Situated between 2º and 7º to the north of the Equator Line, Peninsular Malaysia is separated from Sabah and Sarawak by the South China Sea. To the north of Peninsular Malaysia is Thailand and in the South, the neighbouring country of Singapore. Sabah and Sarawak lies to the north of Indonesia in Borneo, and Sarawak also shares the same borders with Brunei.

People
Malays comprise 57% of the population, while Chinese, Indians, Bumiputras and other races constitute the rest of the Malaysia population.
Language
Malay language is the official language, but English is widely spoken. Ethnic groups also have their own languages and dialects.

Islam is the country’s official religion, but other religions are widely practised.
Government
Malaysia practises a democratic parliamentary with bicameral legislative system. The head of the country is the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, a rotating position between the states of the Malay Sultanate. The head of government is the Prime Minister.
Weather
Tropical climate throughout the year. Temperature in low areas is 21ºC (70ºF) to 32ºC (90ºF). Highland areas are colder with temperatures from 15°C (59° F) to 25°C (77°F). Minimum yearly rainfall is 2,000mm to 2,500mm.
