Day 1 Brunei

On arrival at Brunei airport, meet & transfer to Orchid Garden Hotel. (D)

Day 2 Brunei / Kota Kinabalu

Pick up from hotel & proceed to visit the spectacular Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque – made of Italian marble, gold mosaic & English stained glass with craftsmanship that reflects classical Islamic architecture. The Royal Regalia Exhibition Hall displays collection of Borneo Ethnography, natural history displays & Islamic art documenting the origins of much of Brunei’s culture. View the magnificent Istana Nurul Iman, official residence of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam. After lunch, proceed to Kampung Ayer, the “Venice of the East”. It is the world’s largest water village with 30,000 people living in houses on stilts snaking along the banks of the Brunei River in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan. The village includes several schools, a fire brigade, a police station & several shops. After tour, meet & transfer to Brunei airport for flight to Kota Kinabalu. Meet & transfer to Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. (B/L/D)

Day 3 Kota Kinabalu

Pickup from Hyatt Regency and proceed to visit the ancestral home of Monsopiad, the most feared and infamous of warriors of the Kadazan Dusun tribe. See the artefacts and relics from his headhunting days, including swords, costumes and megaliths. Learn the history and rich tradition of the indigenous people of Sabah. Return to Kota Kinabalu and proceed to visit the DeVilla Orchid Farm, the largest cultivated orchid farm. After tour, return to Kota Kinabalu and transfer back to hotel. In the evening, dine at a local Seafood Restaurant for a local delicious seafood dinner & be entertained by a cultural troop which perform dances of the ethnic tribes of Sabah. Day 4 Kota Kinabalu / Kinabalu National Park

Depart Kota Kinabalu and travel 2 hours along the ridges of the Crocker Range to Kinabalu Park . Enjoy superb mountain views as you travel to the Park at 1524 meters. Explore one of the many trails that lead through tropical Montane Oak and Chestnut Forest . Kinabalu is a botanist’s paradise with over a thousand species of orchids, numerous different rhododendrons and pitcher plants. The bird life is equally fascinating with most species being montane, including a number of endemics. Stay overnight at Wildlife Mountain Lodge. (B/L/D)

Day 5 Kinabalu National park / Poring Hotsprings

Proceed by road for an hour to Poring Hot Springs at the Southern end of Kinabalu Park . Lowland dipterocarp forest makes up most of the vegetation at Poring and it is an excellent place to view lowland birds and some mammals. A short trek into the forest to the Canopy Walkway for a bird’s eye view of the tropical rainforest. The Canopy Walkway is suspended between trees at the height of 40 meters and offers an excellent opportunity to observe wildlife in the canopy. Return to and overnight at Wildlife Mountain Lodge.(B/L/D)

Day 6 Kinabalu National Park / Kinabatangan River

Depart overland to Gomantong Cave where birds nests are harvested. Continue to Sukau at the Kinabatangan River where the greatest concentration of wildlife in all of Malaysia can be found. Afternoon, river cruise to see proboscis monkeys, birds & other wildlife.

Day 7 Kinabatangan River

Boat trips for the day at the river to view numerous species of wildlife such as orang utans, macaques, red & silver leaf monkeys, elephants, hornbills, crocodiles, civet cats, otters & the most famous creature: the proboscis monkeys. Found only in Borneo, the male of this species has a large pendulous nose, fat belly, thick white tail & webbed feet. The bird life includes egret, kingfisher, oriental darter, bee-eater, hornbill & many more. Stay overnight at Sukau River Lodge. (B/L/D)

Day 8 Kinabtanag River / Sandakan

This morning visit the famous Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary in time for feeding. Here, once captive orang utans learn to fend for themselves in the wild. Proceed to Sandakan for a city tour including the Australian Memorial Park. Overnight Sabah Hotel, Sandakan. (B/L/D)

Day 9 Sandakan / Brunei

Today is a leisurely day to fly from Sandakan to Brunei via Kota Kinabalu. Upon arrival at Brunei airport, meet & transfer to Empire Hotel & Country Club for dinner & enjoy the facilities at one of the most distinctive properties in South East Asia. (B/L/D)

Day 10 Brunei

Pick up from Empire Hotel & Country Club & transfer to Brunei airport.
