Visit the Parks information centre and trek to the parks western end through mangrove forest to observe the mud skippers and blue-fiddler crabs. Look for Proboscis monkeys and climb to the plateau to see species of pitcher plants. After lunch, explore the eastern part of the park through rainforest trees for bird watching and other wildlife. A 45 minutes walk on a raised plank-walk (4km long) which snakes through a lush rainforest to reach the Niah Cave entrance. Explore this famous cave system, archaeological sites and primitive hematite paintings on the walls. Observe the bewildering and dangerous manoeuvres of bird-nest collectors climbing flimsy scaffoldings and wooden poles to reach the dark crevasses of the caves to collect the nest during the harvesting season.
