Visit the Gomantong Cave, Kinabatangan River Cruise and the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre.


Day 1 Sandakan / Sepilok / Kinabatangan River Cruise (Lunch/Dinner)

Meet and pick up at your hotel lobby or Sandakan airport and head over to the famous Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre located at the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. Upon arrival, your guide will brief you before entering the Centre. You will then watch a short video documentary with information on the rehabilitation of an orphaned Orang Utan. Enjoy and explore as you get to encounter Bornean-endemic Orang Utans up close as they frolic in their natural habitat. You will proceed to a boardwalk through the lowland rainforest where you can witness the Orang Utan feeding from a feeding platform.
After enjoying some time with the Orang Utans, you will embark on a 2-hour journey through rustic countryside villages to the Bilit Jetty. Upon arrival at the jetty, you will take a short boat ride to Bilit Rainforest Lodge (or similar) located at Bilit Village. You will be welcomed with a drink upon arrival at the Bilit Rainforest Lodge as you check-in.
Lunch is served for you to refuel and recharge!
In the evening, you will be take a river cruise along the Kinabatangan River to encounter wildlife situated along the river. A few favourites include the Proboscis Monkey, rare bird species of Borneo, and maybe even Pygmy Elephants!
Around 1900Hrs, dinner is served in the dining hall.
After dinner, you can go for a night safari cruise where you can spot nocturnal animals, crocodiles and birds. After a full day out, it’s time to relax before spending the night at Bilit Rainforest Lodge. (or similar)

** Sepilok Orang Utan Reserve-  Do not wear bright coloured clothing such as red or yellow. Keep your belongings safe in your bag and avoid wearing jewellery, especially dangling ones. No food is allowed in the Orang Utan Reserve.

Day 2 Kinabatangan River (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills at 6am. Today you have a choice to start your day with a morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River or jungle trek to Ox-Bow Lake for bird watching. Experience the wilderness of Borneo. After your morning exploration, return back to lodge for late breakfast. Free at leisure. Afternoon lunch will be served at Sukau Bilit Rainforest Lodge restaurant.
At 16:00hrs, take another river cruise in the late afternoon to see more wildlife along the Sukau Kinabatangan River Bank. Overnight at Sukau Bilit Rainforest Lodge.

Day 3 Gomantong Caves (Breakfast/Lunch)

After breakfast, check out of Bilit Rainforest Lodge.  It’s time for some cave exploring. You will be taken on a 30-minute drive to the famous Gomantong Caves!
Explore the Gomantong Caves – home to millions of bats and swiftlets. You may get to witness the harvesting of birds’ nests! After your tour, you will be brought out to lunch in Local Restaurant. It’s time to bid an enjoyable trip goodbye as you are transferred to your respective hotels or Sandakan airport.

Accommodation on all Sabah tours is basic. Rooms are generally twin bedded, with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, mosquito netting, (except Mountain Lodge) and attached en-suite bathrooms with hot showers.

As these lodges are in remote locations, rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. Although they provide a unique and memorable experience, you must be prepared to live without the creature comforts of home.
